About the Place
Welcome to Al's French Frys, a culinary gem that perfectly captures the nostalgic essence of old-school dining. Nestled in a cozy corner, this diner is more than just a place to grab a bite; it’s a delightful journey back in time, where the aroma of freshly fried potatoes and sizzling burgers waft through the air. With an ambiance reminiscent of the classic diners from the '60s, Al's French Frys invites you to step into a world where comfort food reigns supreme.
The star of the show here is undoubtedly the ≈french fries—crispy, golden, and generously portioned. Customers rave about the massive servings, ensuring that you never leave feeling cheated, with reviews describing them as "so so so amazing." Whether enjoyed alone or with a side of their equally delicious onion rings, each bite brings a satisfying crunch that keeps patrons coming back for more.
But it doesn't stop at fries. The burgers, though described as slightly smaller, are packed with flavor and perfectly cooked, making them a worthy pairing with those iconic fries. As Sam Irish points out, the pricing strikes a chord for its value, aligning nicely with the generous portions. Plus, the lively atmosphere enriched by oldies music takes your experience to the next level, resonating with those fondly remembered dining experiences from childhood.
Al's French Frys embodies consistent quality and charm. Regular visits feel like a warm embrace, as Mama eloquently states, you always know exactly what to expect—comfort food made just as you remember it. It's a place where friends gather, where laughter and satisfied sighs fill the air, and where even late-night cravings can be met with convenience.
Even the critics among us, like The Boaf, can't deny the appeal of the vibrant atmosphere; the carefully preserved diner architecture adds to the charm, making every visit feel special. And despite differing opinions on individual dishes—some may find the fries merely "mid"—the consistent quality, quick service, and affordable prices keep diners returning for more delightful meals.
So, if you find yourself in the area, or in search of nostalgia wrapped in crispy goodness, make sure to stop by Al's French Frys. It’s more than just a meal; it’s an experience steeped in comfort, flavor, and a dash of sweet nostalgia. Don't miss out on this diner classic!
“ This place is a childhood favorite of my dad's. The fries were so so so amazing. and the portion sizes were absolutely massive, they do not cheat you at all. the burgers were pretty good, a little small but delicious. the pricing was good for the amount of food we got. the vibe was fantastic, it was very old-timey diner. and the service was wonderful ”
“ Old-school burger place that's right up my alley. Ordering was easy. You just have to wait in line and then try to find an open table. Burgers were tasty, and the fries were really good. They play oldies music in the background, which adds to the nostalgia. Don't miss this place if you're in the area. ”
“ Al’s French Frys Consistent Comfort Food with Nostalgic Charm Al’s French Frys is one of those rare places where you always know exactly what you’re going to get in the best way possible. The food is consistently delicious, satisfying, and made just the way you remember it from the last visit. My past orders have included: a quart of their famous Frys (the large), a large order of onion rings, double cheeseburgers with lettuce and tomato (I add onions, extra pickles, ketchup, and mustard at the end), a double cheeseburger with extra pickles, mustard, and ketchup added at the end, the crispy chicken sandwich with bacon on the side (plus extra pickles and mayo on the side), a root beer with no ice, and a large chocolate shake. The Frys are always fried to perfection crisp on the outside with a soft, fluffy inside. The onion rings are beautifully fried, light and crisp with a sweet bite, and never that disappointing bite where the onion slides out of the batter. The burgers are thin, juicy, and full of flavor, with only the occasional bit of gristle. The crispy chicken sandwich is crispy without being oily, with tender meat. Occasionally you might get a bite with a ligament, but it’s rare. I’ve had the mozzarella sticks in the past but they’re not my personal favorite, but certainly decent. I have also had the mac and cheese and feel it is lacking flavor, it is probably my least favorite item on their menu that I have had. I’m looking forward to trying their chicken wings soon; I caught the smell (and the envy) after seeing someone enjoying them during a recent ice cream stop. One suggestion: I wish the online menu had more detail. It would be helpful to know exactly what comes on each burger or sandwich (cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, etc.), and what’s available to add at the end (ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions, relish, etc.). Also if it is a crispy or grilled chicken sandwich. It would make customizing orders and ordering for friends and family easier. This is comfort food, and when that’s what I’m craving, Al’s delivers every time. Their creemees are also a highlight: I love a small: half chocolate, half maple creemee with a chocolate dip, served in a dish. It’s the perfect sweet treat. The atmosphere is warm and nostalgic. The outdoor play area is a great touch, especially for families, and makes it easy to spend a few hours just enjoying the space. While the building could use a few updates especially the restrooms and some playground updates as well it doesn’t take away from the charm or experience. Al’s French Frys is a long time favorite of mine when I want good, consistent, comforting food in a relaxed, nostalgic, and fun setting. ”
“ I went there with my friends and they loved it. We went kind of late in the night and it was still open which was surprisingly convenient. I like the atmosphere inside and I love old diner architecture both inside and outside. TBH I thought the french fries were kinda mid. But they were fairly priced, and the food was ready quickly and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The cashier we ordered from was also very sweet and patient with my one picky friend. Would definitely go back there and recommend to anyone who wants the old diner experience. ”
“ The french fries are crispy and very good. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed. Big portion of chicken strips, etc.. There were no complaints. Small soft ice-cream was big. ”
